Our cabaret on Saturday 2 November ‘It Creeps’ went off with a horrific bang! Audience came along in droves and in some wonderful costumes to hear the band play all your favourite Halloween hits such as Ghostbusters, Thriller, The Addams Family and the theme from Jaws. The room was adorned with spiderwebs, witches, a skeleton and a moving Grim Reaper!
Ali G even took time out of his busy schedule to conduct us!
The band also played some creepy, kooky, spooky and atmospheric works such as Ghost Train by Eric Whitacre as well as his ludicrously funny Godzilla Eats Las Vegas, the Mines of Moria movement from The Lord of the Rings by Johan de Meij, The Inferno by Robert W Smith (all about a trip to Hell) and JS Bach’s iconic Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.
Our own band members took their hand to arranging pieces as well, including a Little Shop of Horrors medley for saxophone ensemble, the theme from the game Luigi’s Mansion and the evocative Tubular Bells introduction made famous in the Exorcist.
It was a very fun time for all and despite some wonderful costumes (including a percussion section full of pumpkins), congratulations must go to Steve Jarman (the dead clarinet player pictured below at the far right) for winning best dressed band member!
We look forward to next year’s cabaret. Pop Saturday 29 November 2025 in your diaries!
